Valentine, Bajrang Dal and Bajrang Bali !!!

Last week I saw some images of Bajrang Dal activists who blackened  the face of a couple on Valentine day. The couple in love were looking very distressed and our moral police activists were standing there proudly as they have saved the India from some nuclear attack. It’s really very disappointing to see such images in India who is looking forward to a prosperous future. I don’t know why our administration falls every time to save the basic human rights of freedom of ours citizens.   The bajrang dal activists were disturbed as Valentine day is copy of western culture and they think that western culture is something very dangerous like an epidemic. My question here is if our Indian culture is so week that it could be threatened by an expression of love ( or whatever it is ) of a couple.

My second question if we really know what is the Indian culture. Does it stop us to be a liberal society? According to the Vedas kaam (sex) is one of the most important purusharth ( Spritual duty of a man) which comes only after Dharma (religion) in order. If we go by history, we will find that Indian culture is something which always advocate the basic right of freedom of an individual.

Our history tells that not long but just before thousand years back, we were a very liberal society. Even sex was not a taboo subject like these days for us and we were a very happy and prosperous society. According to the historians, Mughal and British invasion changed our view toward the sex  completely and we turned into a most hypocrite society.

Come on , Let’s admit it that we are not honest to ourselves. When we spit our venom against western culture on Valentine day, we forget that our technology, movies, TV entertainment , dressing , Internet all are gifts to us from this culture. Tell me why  we should be so proud to be an Indian. Please don’t go to the Vaidic period and start telling me what our great forefathers had done. They were really great and they didn’t had time for petty politics and other time wasting exercise. women were free to dress whatever they want and we definitely were not a sex starved society in the Vaidik period like today.  Molestation of a decent woman in Mumbai by dozens of goons on New Year eve is an example of our dual faced society. In fact, in some parts western culture is following the rules which we actully discovered in Vaidik period and see their progress. See the health, welath and lifestyle of people of west. These countries are among the most prosperops countries in the world while we have even forget that we are humans.

Are we able to provide to all our citizens clean water, non polluted air and hygenic food? No.

Are we able to provide every children of India that high standard of education and an environment to grow their personality? No.

Does our society treat our women with respect and diginity and protect their rights ? No. In fact,  we need to take some lessons from west when it comes to improve our lifestyle as an educated society.

My point here is why we are wasting our time in these useless activities like Valentine protest and some political rally which is being organized to fulfill the political ambition of a corrupt leader. Instead, we can devote this time to improve ourselves as an individual and as a society. I am sure that this will make Lord Bajrangbali more happy.

As a matter of fact,  lord Hanuman ( Bajrang bali) carried the message of love of Lord Ram to  Mother Sita and helped her to destroy her sorrow. I think Bajrandal “Anti Valentine” activists can take a lesson from this episode. Obviously they will say that couples celebrating valentine day are not Sita and Ram but  Doesn’t Hanuman ji  see only Sita and Ram in this whole universe?

If you do not know I would like to tell  you that Baba Neeb Karori Maharaj was a great saint of Northern India. Here I would like to end this feature with one of his story from book “ Miracle of Love”, authored by Ramdas.

“A devotte was embarrased when Maharajji came to his room at university and discovered a pinup calender on the wall. Mahrajji asked who she was, and the devotee said no one, going to turn the picture on wall. But Maharajji stopped him, saying, “She’s is Ma. Don’t dihonor her.”

I congratulate you on your even-mindedness; not in style these days. I write from the West and can tell you the same stupidities exist there, in full. But ideas slowly come around in the minds of the people, the only thing needed then is a betterment of their lives because it is built-up frustration that finds an outlet in intolerant views-a happy person can’t find the energy for that. You should be proud to be an Indian; you have taught the west how to look inside, you have kept your country spiritual for so many millenia. Proud but not superior, sometimes I say not proud, not ashamed, just neutral. Both cultures have something to teach but I remind you that our wealth is built on exploitation of others and out landscape is polluted-not ripe for emulation just yet! keep up the good work, will check in later

    Dear Writer,

I am an Indian who has LONG been ashamed of being an Indian for the very reasons you have posted in your blog. It took me years to find like-minded Indians who were not just blindly proud of being Indian and who were acutely aware of the hypocrisies and injustices committed in our country.

I am SO proud now, by your blog. I can lift my head up high and say that there is still hope in India. Hope that some day, people such as yourself will be able to spread the light!

Keep writing. I will continue to read with GREAT interest.

    Jai Shri Ram,

Friend i think you are been carried away by propoganda of biased media.Look bajrang dal opposes the western cultures because of its ill effects on our soceity like it promotes nudity, indicipline etc western culture belive in three Ws wine, women and wealth they consider women mere as a commodity for entertaiment on the name of women freedom women is just been exploited over there. On the other hand we consider women as janani, devi we oppose valentine day as it is misguiding our youth. There is no need for public display of love it should not be display in public places as we are not uncivilised soceity like west. And one thing more i will like to say bajrang dal is not a political party and it dont do anything for political motives it is a nationalist organisation. Before forming a veiw look things from other prospective as well.

    District Persident Bajrang Dal

  7. @Manish Rai
as u have said I have lokked and analised the things from all possible perspective…So lets start…..

1)”they consider women mere as a commodity for entertaiment on the name of women freedom women is just been exploited over there. On the other hand we consider women as janani,”…….Go throgh some Historical articles Like some from our Late President Dr. Sarvapalli RadhaKrishnan and you will find that if in any part of world where women is considered as commodity …its in Oriental world Like India(including Pakistan),Srilanka and Afganistan.Even in countries Like Saudi Arebia and Iran the Contemporary Women shared a better Status. The Western women is much more indipendent and self proclaimed .No one even Dares to treat them as commodity….As far as janani and devi are concened thanx but no thanx.Pehle to raksha ka dhong karte ho fir bheed me aakar badtameeze karte ho”..And tell me one things Only Hindu Women are janani and devi.if not bajrang dal should be ashamed of what happend to a nun in orissa.

  8. “Look bajrang dal opposes the western cultures because of its ill effects on our soceity like it promotes nudity, indicipline etc western culture belive ”
The above statement proves organisations Like Bajrang dal are firmly IGNORANT of not only positive aspects of western culture but also our indian culture..this is because as mentioned by rahul all the things you dwell today are directly or indirectly related to western culture…for say..’

why people opposing western culture wear sirt pant coat etc(as in above picture)..why not only dhoti…even underwears are fom western culture..so why not wear “Langot”.
WHy use a toothbrush because its too from west…why not only “Datun”..
And many More Like bulb telephone Motorbikes. scooter….almost everything we use in our daily life….

“what i want to make out from above points i that West have so many positive points….If bajrang dal is aware of it ,its using it…similarly there may be many more positive things about which they dont know or dont want to know….” just open your mind and filter it.

As far as Our Indian Culture Is Concerned ..History is the proof …We have attained a status of worlds most dynamic culture. Its not so weak to be harmed by celebration of mere valentine days..remember indian youth knows and knows well what it is doing..if it celebrates valentines day and friendship day…It also have the habid of respecting its elders and teachers….it does not forget to touch its parents feet everymorning….
If Bajjrang Dal is really willing to save indian culture ..it should do someting for Tribes of MP and Chattisgarh…it should save our cultural art like pottery and embriodary..and best it should let our society evolve of its own…

  9. I would seek a detailed explaination from those who say “we oppose valentine day as it is misguiding our youth”…rest next time

Bajrang Dal and like-minded folks should understand that their freedom to believe and practice their religious tenets is as important as someone else’s freedom to go out to a park with a lover, or to go out to a pub, drink and dance. It wouldn’t be surprising at all if those folks watch and enjoy, yes, enjoy movies that depict actions considered by they themselves as “uncultured” and “untraditional.”
    My request to these folks:
Your belief systems are just belief systems. They are not absolutes. They are just a set of make-sense thought patterns that make sense to you and to all those who are in agreement with. Holding on to them does not make you a better person. In fact, in some parts of the world you would be heckled and attacked for just the way you look. There are people out there in the world that would like to do to you people what you want to do the innocent people if they see you breaking open a coconut in front of an idol.
You people are better off going to a park with your spouse or lover and enjoy the beauty of life. When you really enjoy your life and feel unconstrained in your freedom, you don’t need to and have to indulge in all these nonsensical actions. Respect one’s right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness just as you would expect others to do the same to you.

  20. Hello Sam and fumoralsck,

    Sorry for late response.

I absolutely agree with your views and hope that moral police will listen.

    Thanks and regards,

    Rahul
