This week is so disturbing. The land of Mahatma Gandhi is new target of terrorist’s attack and they seem to be successful in creating a terror among the common citizens of India.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who is well known for his sharp remarks and hindutva ideology, tackling the situation very responsibly. He has shown his maturity as a political leader and have never given a single statement to re-assure his Hindu votes. I must say this was least expected from him when we compare him with the Modi in 2002. I welcome this change.
On the other hand, I am shocked, frustrated and ashamed with the Sushma Swaraj’s statement.
BJP speaks on terrorism: confused, contradictory
http://www.ibnlive.com/news/bjp-speaks-on-terrorism-confused-contradictory/69954-3.html?from=search
“Attacks in two BJP-ruled states in a span of two days and within four days of the UPA Government winning the trust vote have some meaning, and what I am saying is proved by enough circumstantial evidence,” she said on 29 th July, 2008.
I can not write much about her mental state. This is the time when every Indian should rise above from his/her cast, creed, religion, politics and fight against the enemies. Swaraj is a true politician who is as desperate as other leaders to hog the lime-light.
BJP were never able to highlight the problems faced by the common man during the UPA regime and completely failed to turn it into an advantage for them. They seem to lost their direction.
Obviously, this is BJP without Bajpai.

One more disturbing news I read today is about the tie-up between Amar Singh and Mamta Banerji and their plan to drive factory of Tata Nano out of Bengal.
Amar-Mamata tie-up may drive Tata out of Bengal

Dear political leaders, it is ok if you never think about the common man of India. it is also ok if you own more than dozen cars and plush homes. We have no complaints if you do not care about us. After all, you worked hard to make this place in politics and now you are reaping fruits of your great work but please, please , please if Ratan Tata has a dream to give Indian family a one Lakh INR car so they can dump their unsafe two vehicle, let’s not spoil it. Can’t you never think beyond yourself? Ok, I know it’s difficult. Can you at least think about us sometimes?

And last but not least something I read (in TOI 27 July, 2008 ) about our most qualified candidate for top post. After his emotional speech in parliament ( How Nuclear energy will spread lights in the home of Kalavati), Rahul Gandhi attended a conference with some students in Hyderabad. Students asked him what is expansion of IAEA , the term mentioned in newspapers and television channels every day.
And you know what!!! He apologized the students for his ignorance about the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).
I must say not up to mark!!! In fact, too bad Rahul ! if you claim for the top post.

So, the drama is over with some dirty climax when some MPs were showing bundles of notes in the parliament without thinking that the whole world is watching us. Most of the Indians agree that there were better ways to take care of this bribery case without insulting the parliament publicly in front of the whole world.
I am happy for Manmohan Singh who put all his political career on stake to go for this deal. We all know that this man never had any personal political ambitions. Economist Manmohan joined politics on the request of then Prime Minister P.V. Narsimharao when Indian economy was nearly dead. His conviction and intelligence changed this adversity into a super success and a new era started in the history of India. His economical reforms changed everything about Indians ( television viewing, jobs and salaries, culture, views and lifestyle). All the windows around the world became open for middle and lower middle class Indians. But yes, I must say that these reforms never benefitted the Indian lower class directly and they were never a part of it. There are farmers who are still committing suicides because they do not get a genuine price for their crops. The irony is that whole country buy them on a high price and middle-men between the farmers and customers make the most of the money . I hope that Rahul Gandhi who gave an emotional speech about the Kalavati, Shashikala and farmer’s plight in Vidarbha will try to develop a system where farmers can directly sell their crops to the customers or at least get maximum return of their hard work.
I must say like the former central government , this government also did not do a single efforts to solve the problems of a common man. They have just empty emotional speeches and slogans to woo the voters. Like many other Indians, I am also an emotional person and I was a big fan of Sonia Gandhi until the UPA came in the power before four years. I must say that those last four years were full of unpleasant surprises for a common man like me. This government never tried to follow the political legacy left by Late Rajiv Gandhi whom I consider as a great person.
This government tried to implement quota in private firms which is not acceptable when you talk about economic reforms and encourage competition. This government criticized the big salary packet for the executives in the private organizations who reached there on the basis of their talent and hard work. This government never took a strong step when Nandigram happened in West Bengal or when north Indians were beaten in Mumbai or when Gujjars took the country transport on ransom almost for one month. The price rise for bread, butter, milk, vegetables, fruits and all daily necessities which started just after Congress took over, never stopped in last four years. I have never seen such a rise in price which I saw in last four years.
We all know that all the populist policies announced by the Congress politicians were nothing but just an attempt to secure maximum vote bank for the future elections. May be their only aim is just to make things easier for Rahul Gandhi when he is ready to claim the top post. I am not saying that Sonia Gandhi should not get the credit to give another life to the Congress and giving us a Prime Minister as qualified as Manmohan Singh but as it always happens, greed of power is hard to resist.

The last four years was a complete failure for UPA government from the point of view of a common man and they never try to learn from their mistakes. A pleasant surprise came as Railway Minister Lalu Yadav who is constantly working to improve the profits and reach of railway services with every possible technology and innovative ideas. Even MBA schools in India and abroad are trying to learn a lesson or two from this son of soil who has proved that he is a serious politician and a great administrator.

Manmohan Singh who started as a reluctant politician reached to the top post only because of his honesty. Like many other political leaders who is desperate for PM post, he never tried to divide the society on the name of religion, cast or creed. The reforms he started in 1992 as Finance Minister were never a populist move but it changed the face of country and I am sure that in the coming days, even the lower class will be benefitted from them. You always have to take the first step to complete the journey and Manmohan made India to take its first step towards the journey when India will be recognized as a fully developed country.
True that he does not have a mass base like Lalu Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav. He does not have connections like Amar Singh. He is not known for his oratory skills like Bajpai or Advani and he does not have charm like Gandhis but yes he is the most selfless politician who has strong will to change the direction of country for better and he knows what he is doing.
As we have read it many times after the trust vote, “ THE SINGH IS A TRUE KING”.

Kanika's wold
Dear Indian voters, you are invited to see this big drama ” Indian -American Nuclear deal”. Sorry, you have no control on this mockery of democracy. You have already played your part by choosing your representatives in Parliament and now you are just a helpless viewer and remember that you can not walk out or switch channels.
Don’t like it….. No problem……you should be happy that you are still enjoying democracy. Do you really deserve it? Think hard about it. When we cast our votes on the basis of cast, creed, religion and region, we decide this fate for ourselves well in advance.
Anyway, it is a different topic. We are here to discuss about the great actors in the drama.
In fact, Congress is successful on one front by creating this crisis. Nobody is talking about the inflation at this moment and everybody wants to see if this deal goes through or not. Even if Congress loose confidence motion in parliament, they can project (or market) themselves as martyrs for national cause. People may find it sympathetic and they might forget the hardships they faced for last 4 years. This is what Congress may be thinking at this moment.

I still believe in the honesty of PM Manmohan Singh and I think that he is the person who is responsible for taking such tough stands about this deal. There were news that he threatened to resign if this deal does not go through. He is the person who is responsible for economical reforms in 1992 and I am sure that this deal will also brings results like the economical reforms. ( Yesterday, I read a ridiculous feature in TOI front page that Rahul Gandhi was the invisible hand behind the exceptional boldness PM displayed for this deal. OK, you want to market Rahul Gandhi as a great leader, that’s fine but give PM the credit he deserves. You never know if you read in future that Rahul Gandhi had invisible hand behind the 1992 economical reforms.)

I can not write anything about left parties because I do not understand them. I wonder that these so called socialist never thought about taking back their support from Congress when the price of vegetables, rice, wheat and other food touched sky. Why this Nuclear deal is so important for them? I give up.
I just read a feature about Great Amar Singh. The title was “Nothing is impossible for Singh”. It was written in the feature how he shared a bathroom with his seven family members and now he has bathroom in every room in his plush home at Greater Kailash. Obviously a great achievement but I wonder what connection it has with Nuclear deal!Is this some kind of marketing tactics? And seriously what he, Mulayam Singh or Samajwadi party has done so great by promise of support to the government? We all know that Mayawati defeated and almost finished her opponents (Congress, BJP and SP ) in UP and she is there to stay. Mulayam Singh who is desperately looking for a political oxygen grabbed this offer of supporting the government when Left gave them this opportunity. They even forgot about the insult they faced four years ago when Amar Singh went for a dinner uninvited.
And now when they joined hands with congress, Amar Singh is advocating the MTN deal for his friend Anil Ambani. He is criticizing Mukesh Ambani and wants PM to to intervene in the fight of two brothers. So, this is what he wants in return for supporting the “Indian- American Nuclear deal” ? Pathetic……
Mayawati is already facing the CBI heat just after the meeting between Amar Singh and Sonia Gandhi. I am ashamed to be a part of this democracy where top leaders play such games to retain in power. What example they are setting for the coming generations? And what have they learned from the leaders like Gandhi ( not Sonia, Rahul or Priyanka), Nehru, JP and Shashtri? Nothing.
BJP’s prime minister candidate L K Advani is also opposing the deal. He says that he would approve the deal with some changes if BJP comes to the power in next election. Everybody knows that he is opposing this deal in parliament because he wants this government to loose. He would have approved the same deal without any changes if he was in the power but this is what called the political game. Leader’s selfishness and ambitions always come above the interest of country. No matter what.

I appreciate US president candidate Obama who dares to give this statement that he will accept the Nuclear deal as it is if comes in the power. It doesn’t matter for him if is he is a democrat not republic.
